Our Solutions
Engineered solutions across four specialist divisions.
Engineered Solutions.
Built by one team.
Every project is designed and built by our own crews — no subcontracting, no handoffs, no split accountability. GSI NZ brings together geohazard engineering, ground engineering, and specialist grouting under one roof. The same geotechnical engineers who assess your hazard produce the construction-ready design, and the same field crews who build it are on site from day one through to final sign-off.
Whether you need a rapid emergency response or a fully engineered long-term solution, we deploy purpose-built equipment and IRATA-certified rope access crews to sites other contractors cannot reach. Our fleet — drill rigs, grouting plant, slope protection systems, and CFA piling rigs — is owned and maintained in-house, which means we mobilise on our own schedule, not a hire company's.
GSI has been operating in New Zealand since 2017, when unprecedented demand following the Kaikōura earthquake led to the establishment of a permanent New Zealand operation. That operation was strengthened in 2019 through the acquisition of Hiway Geotechnical, which brought deep ground engineering capability (CFA piling, jet grouting, in-situ mass stabilisation, and in-situ trench mixing) under the GSI roof. Today, our New Zealand team holds more specialist geotechnical capabilities in-house than any other firm operating in the country.
We are NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi pre-qualified for State Highway geotechnical and slope works, SiteWise Gold accredited, and a Totika listed supplier. Our engineers are active members of the New Zealand Geotechnical Society, and our rope access technicians hold IRATA certification to Level 3. When a slope fails or ground shifts — on a state highway, a commercial development, or a residential section — GSI is the team that gets called first.
Geohazard Engineering
Emergency slope response, rockfall mitigation, difficult access, and landslide stabilisation, from NZ's most experienced geohazard team.
Rockfall Mitigation
Rock bolting, meshing, scaling, and energy-absorbing rockfall barriers, from geological assessment to permanent protection.
Difficult Access Solutions
IRATA rope access and helicopter-deployable equipment for steep, remote, or cliff sites, no access roads needed.
Landslide & Slope Stabilisation
Limit equilibrium analysis, soil nails, rock anchors, and drainage for permanent landslide repair.
Ground Engineering
CFA piling and in-situ trench mixing for foundations, retaining walls, and ground improvement, using purpose-built restricted-access equipment.
Specialist Grouting
IMS, DSM, jet grouting, foamed concrete, and polyurethane grouting, treating the ground in place without excavation.
In-Situ Mass Stabilisation
Mechanical binder mixing to 5.5 m depth for soft soil improvement and foundation support.
Deep Soil Mixing
SR-40 rig forming soil-cement columns to 19 m for retention walls, ground improvement, and cut-off barriers.
Jet Grouting
High-pressure soilcrete columns for underpinning, liquefaction mitigation, and groundwater control.
Foamed Concrete
Pumpable, lightweight cementitious fill for pipeline abandonment, void stabilisation, and abutment backfill.
Polyurethane Grouting
Expanding resin injection for slab lifting, void filling, waterproofing, and ground strengthening.
Residential Geohazard Services
For property owners dealing with slope failures, unstable ground, or rockfall risk, GSI NZ provides the same fully engineered approach for residential sites.
