In-House Equipment. No Sub-Contractor Delays.

GSI owns and operates its own fleet of specialist plant across all service divisions. When a call comes in, we mobilise our own gear — not someone else's schedule.

Why owning our own plant matters.

Most geotechnical contractors sub-contract their specialist plant. When a slope fails at midnight, those contractors are calling hire companies. GSI is calling our own drivers. The difference is measured in hours — sometimes the difference between a road re-opening on day two versus day five.

Owning our equipment also means our crews know it intimately. They maintain it, they've used it on hundreds of jobs, and they know its limits. That familiarity reduces downtime, reduces surprises on site, and produces better outcomes for our clients.

Our Fleet

Drill Rigs

GSI operates a range of rotary and percussion drill rigs for rock anchor installation, soil nailing, micropiling, and ground investigation. Our rigs are configured for New Zealand conditions — capable of working on steep terrain, narrow benches, and remote sites with limited access.

Grouting & Ground Improvement Plant

Specialist grout mixing and injection equipment for high-pressure grouting, deep soil mixing, jet grouting, and in-situ mass stabilisation. Includes purpose-built auger rigs, mixing columns, and cutter soil mixing (CSM) equipment for urban ground improvement projects.

Slope Protection & Rockfall Systems

Installation equipment for rockfall protection systems — barrier installation frames, net tensioning gear, and wire rope handling equipment. Our crews install Geobrugg, Maccaferri, and Tecco slope protection systems, and hold manufacturer training for each system we work with.

Rope Access Equipment

Full IRATA-compliant rope access inventory — main lines, backup lines, descenders, ascenders, harnesses, and rigging hardware — maintained to manufacturer specifications and inspected before each use. We carry sufficient equipment for multi-crew operations on large slope faces simultaneously.

CFA Piling & In-Situ Mixing

Continuous flight auger (CFA) piling rigs and in-situ trench mixing (ITM) equipment for urban foundation and ground improvement projects. Capable of working in constrained sites with low headroom. Includes purpose-built monitoring and data-logging systems for quality assurance on piling operations.

Support Fleet

GSI New Zealand's support fleet includes dedicated field vehicles, mobile workshops, and material transport — all branded and maintained in-house. On emergency callouts, our support vehicles carry pre-loaded emergency response kits so crews arrive ready to work, not waiting for materials to arrive separately.

Equipment held across New Zealand.

GSI maintains equipment in multiple locations across New Zealand to minimise mobilisation times for emergency and planned works. For emergency callouts, our standard target is mobilisation within hours — not days.
