As a chartered civil engineer, Rob has experience in all aspects of piling and ground improvement engineering, new technology development, and pushing the boundaries of design and build foundation solutions. From his start in the design office, Rob’s responsibilities grew to include commercial & residential site investigation & land assessment work, making recommendations on development solutions, and progressing these into detailed designs using a range of pile types and ground improvements.
From this solid design base Rob has enjoyed twenty years of construction contracting with a range of specialist foundation companies both in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. Experiences range from management of residential driven precast piling in the United Kingdom to large-diameter bored piling and ground improvements on some of New Zealand’s most significant infrastructure projects. Ground improvement techniques including stone columns, DC, shallow & deep soil mixing, and jet grouting have become Rob’s specialty. During his career, many successful contracts have been secured and delivered for both temporary and permanent applications, mitigating liquefaction, controlling settlement, and providing effective ground retention. Rob has experience working under a range of contractual conditions, including NZS3910, NZS3916, and in collaborative arrangements through ECI and partnering contracts.
Previous industry roles have covered site engineering, estimation and design, business development, overall project management, and general company management. Rob thrives on a collaborative environment developing solutions for design engineers and clients.
